Old and cold - biology of the Greenland shark, Somniosus microcephalus.


Long line research cruise in May 2019 to the deep parts of Skagerrak with private expedition yacht in search of Greenland sharks.

 Organized by the “Old And Cold - Biology of the Greenland shark” project at the Marine Biological Section, Univ. Copenhagen – in collaboration with colleagues from the US, the UK, the North Sea Aquarium, the Kattegatcenter and the Danish National Aquarium The Blue Planet.

On the cruise we caught two Greenland sharks - one of them only 102 cm TL - as well as a velvet belly (Etmopterus spinax).
